Just how "random" are these group assignments? I could picture Tiger sitting there rubbing his hands maniacally, trying to put the most interesting competition together... Sticking them in a jar, shaking it, and seeing what happens. :)

Why i dont like this tournament rules (random babblings)
first - i do not understand why they decided NOT allow ANY of the wargaming team into tournament...Maybe there are reasons that Generals not participate but there are other guys in wargaming.net who i would want to meet in tournament. For example Alex, Vano, Drungary, Artmax, and maybe President Kisly himself.
They all are strong players but they are not THAT overpowering to forbid them all to participate in tournament. There will not be much high-ranking players at all so what's the point to limit they number even more.On other side if they not participate because they want tournament to be fun for newbies only then they should kick out MortonHQ and myself too.
second - why the new Emerald map is not used in tournament excempt for determining third place.Emerald is fun so i'd prefer to play the first initial stage on Emerald not on boring Antarkticus.
third - i dont understand why Wasserland is not used at all...IMHO Wasserland is most beautiful and interesting map and i would like to play there to.Why not make it so - in final stage opponents play two games one on New Paradize and one on Wasserland

If there's any damger of the Generals not being allowed to play in the tournement then I'm going to stop playing ordinary games. Tell me now if that's the plan!!

As long as there's no game fixing going on, I reckon the developers should be allowed to play as well.

Even Tiger has bad days! Not many I grant you, but some.

You're already on the list, I doubt they'd take you off now. Beat the snot out of as many people as you want! But if you are still concerned, and want to deliberately lose a few games to be sure, I'm your man ;)

You see that's the problem. I'd get points even for losing!

Developers may not participate this tournament because:
1) They have a lot of work and no time to play
2) Imagine what happens if some developers win? For example, Victor or Vadim? This tournament and prizes is for our customers/players, but not for us.
3) Developers has a lot of power to cheat - we may modify executables to enable impossible things, etc.
4) It is common rule - not to allow organizers and their families to participate in lottery and so on... This case is similar.

There are a lot of other reasons too, but I think it is enough.

just a few comments on what Vano said
- i dont think it will be possible to cheat in tournament first because replays will be posted on forum and throughly examined so any abnormal situations will be noticed.
- comparison with lotteries not proves anything because here victory is defined NOT by chance or random
- about time...are there exactly THAT much work so you cant even spare half hour to make a few turns...(after all i was not saying they _should_ participate i said they can be allowed in if they want)

Oh, now it comes out!

"Lets seeee... I think I'd like a secret ally right about... there!"

"Maybe he won't notice if my rocket launcher fires 3 seperate times"

"Lets make these two hexes plains instead of forests for now"

"Hah, I can do all sorts of things as long as they aren't in the current replay veiw!"

No wonder you guys do so well in the rankings! j/k

As a side note, we should have a tournament at some point pitting people from different continents together. It could be something like East Europe/Russia vs. West Europe vs. North America. That could be fun.
Also, its more likely that people in the same zone would be able to play at the same time, making it a faster sub tournament. Then the best in each zone could duke it out.

Hah! Russian/East Europe players have to deal with Tiger and the Devs!

I think all players from Eastern Europe will be very grateful to you for this idea

I'd still rather go up against Morton than Tiger ;) That was not an experience I care to repeat soon. Apparently Tigers have no problem taking down Griffons

Maelstorm, I personally do NOT give a damned slightest piece of careness to all the above listed staff: I don't cheat in Secret Allies, I don't cheat in those forest hexes, I NEVER cheat with Rocket Launchers or Heavy Bots...

As a developer, I prefer cheating in the Rankings table itself

MHUUUA-HAAA-HAA-HA-HA !!!!!!

 Forgot about that possibility.

It would be pretty sad if you had to resort to such things after creating the game yourselves ;)
