I've thought of a few things that would be nice to be able to do in MA/MAN, and am posting them in the hopes that they spark the devs' imaginations, even if they aren't implemented. For the moment, I'll stick with non-game stuff.

In-Game:

1) Background cutscene.

The cutscene that plays continuously in the background is really cool, but my computer just can't handle the stress of a dozen units firing and dying all at the same time. Thus, my sound tends to start skipping, especially when something tries to load (such as the challenge screen). It would be nice to be able to turn the cutscene off. At the very least, I would like an option to have sound disabled while out in the menus and enabled while playing without having to go through the options menu at the start and end of every turn.

2) Double challenge.

Right now, you can send/post challenges as PL, FNU, or Random. It would be nice to be able to send challenges as Both, where accepting a challenge as Both starts up two games with opposite side assignments.

www.massiveassaultnetwork.com (logged-in areas):

1) Stats.

It'd be helpful to be able to see other players' stats from the website, though I don't know how feasable this would be.

2) Challenges.

It'd also be handy to be able to send challenges over the website.

3) Chat.

Probably the least likely to be at all possible, being able to chat with the people who are online would be neat, though unimportant enough to be barely worth mentioning.

I hope this gives you Devs some ideas!

Speaking of the logged-in section of the MAN website, the left-hand menu there is missing the 'Forums' and 'Download' section links, meaning that in order to get to these sections you have to log out (which then means you have to log back in, entering your nickname and password each time).

Could these links be added to the logged-in left-hand menu, please?

(I'm new around here, so many apologies if this is a known issue or has already been pointed out many times...)

Now it's possible to toggle the background cutscene on and off. Get the nearest patch when it's available and enjoy.

I'm a trial user so I don't know if some of these feature requests are only available to subscribers but:

#1. I *really* would like some sort of ranking system to be viewable through the game or online. Stats would follow along the same terms. I see my ranking when in M.A.N. but I dont see anywhere where I can compare my rankings to other players.

#2. In M.A.N. (remember im a newbie so bare with me), when I attack an enemy and kill it completely, my other troops arent able to move in the position of the dead enemy. Instead my troops attempt to shoot at the dead enemy's grave. This, to me, takes away some of the strat of figuring out the order of movements by troops.

#3. A downloadable manual for M.A.N.! If it's a lack of time issue for converting the boxed M.A. paper manual to a digital format, I would help convert it.

There is a ranking page on the logon-accessable areas of http://www.massiveassaultnetwork.com, but I don't know if this is available to trial users. Even if the site isn't available, I believe that the player list in the Personal Challenge dialog can be sorted by rank, and clicking a person's name in the chat channel and then clicking "More" will show the person's wins, losses, etc.

This is the way it's supposed to work. Believe me, there's plenty of effort that goes into figuring out troop movements even without driving over dead enemies.

Being a (non-paid) game developer, I wonder why it's supposed to work like that, concerning taking the position of a dead enemy. One friend mentioned it could be there because of the way the undo/rewind works. Is this more of a gameplay design, or design fault? I would hold no grudge and would completely understand if it was just a problem occured by overall design of the game. I don't quite understand why it would be implemented like that intentionally, though nothing wrong with it being in place once I understand the logic behind it. As I don't have very much wargame background, it could be a normal gameplay design of this sort?

Just wondering. :)

Its not a game fault at all, but deliberately put in there. Think about it: if you could move through dead enemies, it would be very easy to break through a battle line. You just need to splatter an LAV, then your transport could drive right through their lines with a couple bots.

I believe it enhances strategy greatly, as it gives you more options of how to allocate your resources to fronts. You could easily hold a small pass with a couple units against vast forces. I believe this is good, as without this feature, people would resort to swarm tactics that don't lead to true strategy. They would mass their units in groups, and just barrel through whatever front of units they run into.

Ah, very true! Good point. Makes much more sense now. :)

I have added a new useful feature to web-part of M.A.N. Now you can send challenges from the web-site.

Select players from "Players List" and add them to Opponent List.
Go to "Opponent List" and send challenges.

Your Opponent List is saved on server so you can arrange it as you want and use later. It allows to deal only with players you are intrested to play with.

Any word on adding the Glicko system to your set of stats that players can view from the site, Morda? You mentioned at one point that might be possible.

Post subject:  just some suggestoins and questions

im a trial player so far but what if your in an online battle and you want to be P.L. and they want to be P.L. or vice versa
2: i know the whole goin over dead units thing takes alot of stragety out of the game but there should be an option if you want to or not, like a toggle on/off kinda thing
3: there should be an abillity like shoot then move not just move then shoot again it takes stragety out of the game but toggle on off would be realy nice :)

Simple: either select "Random" for the side choice, or play 2 matches, one as each side.

I disagree on both assertions of taking strategy out of the game. You're only seeing the strategies that it denies, but refusing to see those that these things allow. For instance, if you're allowed to move through dead units, then blocking with a battle line becomes virtually useless.
