Yes, but if the game needs the user to write there, then why put the folder in a location where a user has no write access, and fail to document that the user will need said access.
They actually need modify access, not write. If the user can't write to their profile folder (and here's another reason, since the current method means every user can access every profile, even if it's not theirs) then they will find all their games break or vanish after one or two turns.
