well i think galaxy map isn't really readable to see clan countries.

would it be possible to put a colour not for size (witch is important but we got the symbol L,M,H) but for clan :

ROTM orange.. IEC red...

with that, we could have a good quick idea about situation of war and order battle command easier..

what to you think of that idea ?

maybe if we foudn a way to lightly shade the entire system in whatever clan colour (so u can still see the background but u can easily tell at a glance who owns what)

It depends how the map is generated. It's by hand with some drawing tools like psp or photoshop ?

well we have a background for the map with the system borders on it, then we use a program taht maelstroms written to create all the other bits on it.

then it's possible to do this automatically. I agreed with Warchris, but I did some experiments with 3 systems of Andromeda and then, I'm no more sure, cause the map will be less beautifull and very artificial. I joint the test I made.

well actually..even before making current map GF made another version of starmap with coloured nebulas (supposed that systems has colour of controlling clan) but Mael said their map generator cant support that.

while we're on the subject of maps atm, we have 2 man maps that ahve been redone in star map form, but we need all the maps done as well as any others ppl want to knock up, so anyone with spare time and are good with art packages it would be appreciated (the 2 maps done already are new paradise and wasserland)

The Clan War Mapper was written in C++ using Borland C++ Builder 6. If you could tell me of the approach you took, I'd be very interested in adding it in. One thing to keep in mind is that we'd like to keep the mapper flexible enough to allow for any background map. We were using the MA strategic maps of the existing planets before G.F. drew the beautiful backgrounds we are using now.

Right now nothing in the mapper is dependant on the background map, and shading a whole section of the map would require it to do so. All the capital, fort, and army positions are superimposed over the background.

If we need to add something that looks specifically for certain colors that can be specified on a per-map basis, that could be fine. The artist who comes up with the map would be more limited to follow certain coloring guidelines, but the end result could be worth it.
