Completely ignoring gameplay for a moment, this game is outstanding. It's so refreshing to see a game that pays attention to the little things. Interface being clean and robust, automatic support for things like widescreen, keys doing what they should(ctrl-Z being undo), useful popups (this is the first game ever that I've not turned off all the popups immediately), etc. Basically, all the things that most designers are too lazy or busy to do.

You guys deserve not one, but two cookies. Each.

Usually, press quotes are bullshit, but these two are completely accurate, and the latter is, to me, the biggest compliment a game can get:

"Both gameplay and presentation are the best in the genre I’ve seen in years, and probably even for years to come. "

"This is the Total Annihilation of turn-based strategy games."

It's almost like Chris Taylor was secretly working on this game ;)

The writing and graphics in this game are also very noteworthy, as you can tell that the dialogue and whatnot wasn't written by some random team member a few all-nighters before release. The voice acting, while a little stereotypical, is also great and it's nice to see voices of different ethnicities, as opposed to fifteen "english" people with german accents (because the game was developed in germany), etc.

As for the gameplay itself, it's very polished. Everything was obviously thought out and balanced. It's great to see so many non-standard gameplay modes. Again, things that show that these guys are going the extra mile to make a quality game.

This isn't a review... This game is just so exceptional that I felt I had to say something :) Awesome job, guys...
