first, you assume that tiger has the 8s, perhaps not.
second, if he does have it and he discloses i think he makes a big mistake. t555t will just pound the hell out to the 8s with his naval units, re invade it from his large, take it and really start to roll. tiger would have to also have the 12 to possible make that deployment pay off and then it could also spell disaster for him if he does not play it right. t555t 4 tiger 0

somewhere, deep under the Urals, Ilya sits in a bunker-----
Ilya: AHgrey, I am playing the great storm, but he is red--I thought we were the red team!!!
AHgrey: we are the red team, he is only red in that game --did you get my email with the detailed game plan?
Ilya: I received you email but it was a blank page.
AHgrey: Of course, i wrote it using invisible ink, we must guard against hackers!! Use a candle to warm up your monitor!
Ilya:AHgrey!AHgrey! I could not find any candles so i used a flare and my monitor is on fire!! What should I do now?
AHgrey: surrender

I was worried about coming back for this tournament.
Worried that I could not dedicate the time to keep up with the fast pace that the East players make their moves (from past experience in the earlier tournaments - when the chess clock is on).

I worried for nothing... chess clock is off and we play at a plesant pace.

GO THE MIGHTY WEST.....

t555t: Lars, I think storm is drinking again.
Morn: When did he stop? You know, he is Czechoslovakian!
t555t:Ah, that explains it, they are wild and crazy, i saw a documentary about them staring Steve Martin! Still, we must rein him in somehow--he is giving away game secrets!!
Morn:Yes, I saw his answer to le_roy post about your game with tiger, I am sure this scared tiger away from the trap you set!
T555t: yes, you don't think he is a kgb agent do you--he does seem to know a great deal about soviet military equipment and cryptology.
Morn: No, he has sent me pictures of the senior center where he is housed--i mean where he stays and I saw copies of "boy's life" on some tables. I think he was part of that American para military organization "the boy scouts" when he was younger.
t555t: that explains it, lots about cryptology in that magazine, still, will you talk to him and try to calm him down, some of the Ruskies are a little slow on the uptake and i think his attempt at humor is kind of lost on them!
Morn: I will try (big sigh)

Explanation of Storm's recent behavior:
The current administration has intercepted emails which portray the President in a negative light.
Several "agents", out-of-work prostitutes from Acorn, have been sent to put cyanide in Storm's water well. They failed to administer enough to do anything but send him on a hallucinatory trip.
He's been listening to Pink Floyd music and watching the movie "The Yellow Submarine".
Remember, "set and setting"! Keep it mellow and don't watch the News!

it's very funny to read all your thoughts about WvsE tournament; just reading through the lines it is also possible to feel how this battles are fighted on a psychological plan :D .....nobody wants to be defeated!!!..so propaganda and previsions are a main part of the game...
Please keep us informed and good luck to all!

somewhere in the vast Siberian waste land le_roy sits in an iced over hut, an inspirational vcr tape of "enemy at the gate" (with the line "when the man in front of you carrying the gun is killed" strategically removed) runs on continuous loop. Let us look in---
Le_roy: Hugo, we are undone!! did you see guardians post?
Hugo: No, I have been too busy trying to reactivate the "random map" feature on the web site, you know we had to manually override it in order for west team players to play as red. What did he post?
Le_roy: Manual override! My god don't you remember what happened the last time we did that? Most of our lower ranked players were born in that region!!!
Hugo: that was a different computer program and has been patched (I hope). But get back to guardian, what did he do?
Le_roy: he used the word "perversion" in his post, now all east players will quit playing their turns and spend precious computer time searching forum for pictures!
You must know that with so much hacking--I mean research going on over here there is very little internet bandwidth available as it is!
Hugo: First, jedi has not finished sending out the detailed map layouts of some of the west players, so until that happens no one is playing any turns! Second, he used the term "previsions"---slightly different meaning!
Le_roy: (great sigh of relief)ZA Rodinu, Za Stalinu, Hura, Hura, Hura!!

I assume my opponent will eventually make a move...
BUT
What happens if my opponents times out.....
Am I supposed to claim a hollow victory - with the enemy not even showing up?

I was asked to come back for this tournament - by numerour players - and it would be embarassing if I won because my opponent did not even make 1 turn.....but do I claim the victory for the glorious WEST.

These are the things I am thinking off while patiently waiting for my first glimpse of the enemy........

Some victories are pretty, some ugly. I can not speak for you, but i can tell you that if my opponent does not make his moves in the 14 day limit there will be 2 fewer turny games to be watched. Do you not consider it somewhat strange that in the different chess clock type tournaments the return moves come almost within minuets, while your own moves, because you have a life and job and family, usually have hours or days between. But now, all of the people who seem to live on the computer for the chess clock turnys, suddenly seem to have much more pressing things to do with their time.

I am just too keen I suppose
Jedi and Hugo tell me that Bambr is busy with family and thats somethign I can understand.
I will humbly sit back and wait for a turn.
My posts are in jest - no harm intended - just keen to play.

Alex, we are not talking about turn 15 or 20 on sea swiss where someone may have a few hundred units to move and they contact yo and ask for more time because they just have too many things going on--of course you wait for those players to find the time--the game is not more important than family and work--we are talking about the first turn of the game, the deployment of 1 country on a large or extra large map--not exactly where the game is usually won or lost.
