i could do a rough visualisation of it using the current map program, questions is tho how are we gonna show which sustems link to whihc otehr clna systems

I think a series of circles for the systems with coloured lines for the links ought to do it!

something like this? Wasn't sure how to link the outer with 2 inner so may ahve to change this.

The map is not quite what intended. For this four clan map (earlier posts referred to a five clan map) there should be half the number of outer planets (allowing two links to each other clan instead of four as you have currently.

Most importantly though no two outer systems should link to the same two clans and each outer systems should have links to two of the clans inner systems.

ok map take 2, note that coloured lines leading away from the clans planet indicate which clan they head to, we'll decide alter how to show exactly which planet links to which.

ok do we want 2 neighbrouing outer systems to link to the 2 out systems of the same clan, or should it be completely random?

Must be different clans to create interest in the map: Clan A decides to attack Clan B, do they do it via system 1 or system 2? System 1 will also be one of Clan C's routes into Clan B but system 2 will be one of Clan D's attack routes. The choice of 1 or 2 will make it easier for an ally to attack as well or could block a rival attacking the same clan etc.

another idea for the map is this..

There are about a 10 system with about 3 planets in each system, the clans are given planets randomly spread across the systems so quite often u'll find urself sharing systems with someone. Each planet produces a random ammount of cash each day/week. The cash can either be stored on the planet, transfered to another friendly planet(with a % lost in the transfere, or used to bribe officials on an enemy planet (leading to an invasion).

It'll cost more to bribe officials in a planet taht's far away from the planet sending the money.

Then when a fight begins the ammount of cash the defender has on the planet is compared to the ammount the attack has sent to the planet. Then the number of games to be played and the number of games each side has to win to win are worked out.

eg say the defender has $20,000 (for eaxmple) and the attacker sends $20,000 from 2 of his planets. We'll assume the planets are in the same system adn that there's no cash loss for attacking in same system. so the attacker has a 2:1 advantage. so we decide that 2 fights are too be played with the attacker needing to win 1 of them to win due to their huge cash ammount..

We'll have some kind of forumla to work out umber of battles to be played etc. Maybe for every $30,000 a new battle is made, or something.
