I'm new to the MA series, but I've been looking for a good new TB game for a while. I have downloaded the demos for MA and Domination and have been enjoying them.

I am a game editor fanatic and was wondering if Domination has a scenario/campaign editor.

Domination doesn't have one (yet), but the original game does.

Well, MAN has a map editor, but it's very user-unfriendly and there is no way to test a map you make. You make it, send it to the devs, they texture it and test it. So far, the only user made map that has been released is Trinity. I've fooled around with the editor a bit, but I totally suck at map design.

I can't find the thread with the download link, so I'll post it here if you want to give it a shot.

you can't do anything like MAKE a map

What do you mean, you can only re-dress the land mass maps that come with the game?

in fact in the editor you only got a top flat view not very usefull to design anf have a right idea of what you design.

as you don't have the rendering, a player can't really create a map...

i used to have a quick look but i would prefer to make the whole map from flat view to rendered 3D one in order to test my own map in local...

to design in flat view (and not being able to test) is equal to be blind...

i do think if we add the capability to design and test , there would be more map (designed by player) available...

might it be possible to simplify the graphics for a map editor? eg instead of creating a whole forest for each area of wood just stick 1 tree in the middle of the hex and make the groud colour brown/green whatver. The end result will look pretty tacky but would help out the keen map makers in the community and provide alot more maps free for the fans (help them feel like they're getting mroe for their money at no expence to the company except some time spent creating the map editor. Maybe the 1 map a month thing could just be turning one of the better tacky player made maps into one of the better looking ones?

MA maps don't look that complex, the only buildings are the cities, there is little in the way of ground cover compared to most strategy games, and the map areas are pretty small from what I have seen in the demo.

I've worked with a lot of game editors (HOMM, AoW, JA2, DF, NWN, etc.) and the final product in MA looks much less complex than maps from those games. Does the MA editor have any scripting functions?

I dont think that a map editor is really necessary.

Lacking time I dont intend to play day and night this game as good as it may be. (there are other more important things to do in my life than playing computer games)

The 10 or so in-game maps are sufficient to give me a good time for half a year in order to try all maps. And after this time I am cycling back to the first map :)

So for me its absolutely no problem to not have a map editor.

But a problem is that I have to register and/or to subscribe if I want to make an online match with one of my friends. This is not really comfortable. I would rather like to pbem in a traditional way per email.

The MA editor is much easier to use than I expected. It is fairly simple to create single player maps and I seem to be able to play them without any problems. I am stuck using their planet maps and can't change any of the geography or city locations but I can still think of some ideas for interesting scenarios.
