Post subject: Why can't I save in hotseat games?
PostPosted: Wed Jan 14, 2004 3:27 pm
Hi,

Me and a friend wanted to play this game in hotseat mode, but as it is not possible to save games in this mode, we had to give it up. It will take too long to play a world-war map in one sitting. This is very sad - I bought the game partly because of this hotseat mode, and we were both looking forward to playing this - it's been too long since anything similar has been released (Battle Isle-series?). So not being able to save was a major disappointment for us.

So I'm wondering why it's not possible to save during a hotseat game? I mean, it's possible in any other hotseat game we've played (and we've played a lot of those over the years), and surely there can't be a technical reason for this. So why?

(and please will you (devs) include this possibillity in the next patch?)

well actually i also like to play MA in hotseat but i should say that best part of this game is online playing. Hotseat can't compare with online because you wont be ablto to find enough really powerful players to fight with in hotseat. But i with my friends play MA in hotseat to and i dont see what the problem with finishing MA game in one day..Small maps (Emerald Antartiks) take like one hour (sometimes even less if somebody makes hard mistakes and surrenders) Medium maps take a max of 2-3 hours - easliy finishable in one evening...
Well only problem may be with large maps - they make take up to 4-5 hours but we also finish them in one sit usually playing them on sundays (with a small break for eating in the middle).
What other games you played in hotseat? with 4 players HoMM 3 or Disciples 2 can take LONGER that 5 hours to play (but we also finish them in one seat somemes.)

It seems that we have to include Hot Seat Save into the nearest patch ;)

Wow! Thanks a lot, this is great news! :)

(I had never expected such a quick and positive response, so this was really a very pleasant surprise)

Mrakobes: I will no doubt try playing online soon. But hotseat is more social in a way, and (as you probably know) great fun when you play against a friend. We've played all kinds of hotseat games (HOMM, Age of Wonders, Space Empires IV, Battle Isle,... we've been playing games together for at least ten years :) ), but we seldom finish games in one sitting. We'll try some of the smaller maps next time, so thanks for the suggestion.

Hotseat!! Yes!!!
I also bought this game cause I thought it had hotseat. And was quite disappointed when a friend and I played for a few hours and then couldn't save.

And yes, I do play online and it's great, but still, much better to play with my friends in person. Plus when they see how fun it is, they will go out and buy it themselves!

if it takes as long to get the American patch with hotseat saves as it has to get the latest patch, I better not hold my breath!
