While I defer in advance to the judgement of any more experienced players who might reply, the three biggies I saw were (in no particular order):

1) You had no way to deal with towers.

2) When he invaded the center-area country (Beerland, IIRC...replay doesn't show country names), you put all your defensive guerillas right in his gun sights.

3) Your initial disclosures were on opposite sides of the map.

Why DID you do number 3, anyways?

1. Not sure how I could change this. My setup was defensive due to the small nature of the map, and after that getting to towers was... fun.

2. With his transports it didn't make any difference which end of the country they were at, so I placed one to hold him up a turn, the next in the city and then used the remaining money to help my invasion... I haven't watched the replay yet though.

3. Good question.
