I'm going to run by this possiblity of distribution over with PR, but some feedback first would be nice.

What's the possiblity of the Massive Assault series running on Linux / OSX(darwin)?

Though I doubt a straight port is unlikely, what if it was made compatible with such API "emulators" like http://www.transgaming.com's WineX?

I don't know much about WineX, but from what i'm aware of, it supports DirectX 8, and runs well, at least, on Mandrake/Debian. Anyone know if WineX supports OSX in some way?

I'd also imagine there would be a performance hit from the Windows API emulation (WINE: Wine Is Not an Emulator). So would Massive Assault be possible on WineX?

The more platforms it's available on, the more players, the more fun to be had.

Getting MA to run (well) under Wine is something you need to bring up with the Wine team, rather than the MA team. I think the chances of a direct Linux port are pretty much zero.
