Never do that!

Here you can see one of the most fatal mistakes an admiral can make. When it comes to a naval battle with
many Battleships and Firestorms, and if your enemy has 3 or more Battleship superiority, you’d better avoid
this battle for as long as possible retreating, blocking the enemy way with useless Turtles (Naval Transports)
and maybe damaged Killerwhales (Destroyers), etc. You should know that the salvo fired
by those 3 extra enemy Battleships will be entirely eliminating extra Firestorm, and his advantage will
be growing dramatically after each turn. You can stand such a battle only if your outnumbered Firestorms
are supported by a large number of Killerwhales, or Amphibians or maybe some long-range units (like Annihilators
or Ostriches) giving fire support from the adjacent shores, or you have some Bombers operating form the nearby city or Carrier.
In the given example, the Phantom League’s admiral had neither of the above balancing forces. Moreover, his
Firestorms was lured out of the narrow straight into literally open sea seduced by the opportunity to fire first
(that was a cunning "trap" set by F.N.U.’s Navy). Well, by the first strike Phantom League sunk
one Battleship and damaged another one, but their Firestorms appeared right in the focus of F.N.U.’s salient,
surrounded from 3 sides, plus heavily outnumbered. And the F.N.U.’s salvo (as you can see) has blown away
3 Firestorms and 2 are heavily damaged. Thus during the next two or tree turns the whole Phantom League’s fleet will be
destroyed completely.
At Phantom League’s place, instead of that suicidal charge, I would keep withdrawing all
my front-rank Firestorms until they link with those 4 Firestorms, which were approaching from behind
(they were too far away to take part in that first strike). Moreover, even when
my two Firestorm Fleets united, I would keep going backward, because the F.N.U.’s fleet would still be stronger.
Maybe I would stop and accept the challenge when MY ships are in open seas (on the
opposite side of the straight) and the enemy is jammed in the most narrow part -
then my fire would be concentrated in most effective way, and the enemy wouldn’t have enough space for
bringing all its firepower in the action simultaneously.
